‘Crazyhead’ Is A British Version Of ‘Buffy The Vampire Slayer’ With A Potty Mouth

The show is about demons and mental illness.

Crazyhead is essentially what you get when Buffy Summers grows a potty mouth and develops a Brit accent.

Amy (Cara Theobold) is an unassuming bowling alley employee who discovers a new gift — the ability to see murderous demons hiding in plain sight. She then befriends Raquel (Susan Wokoma), another “seer”, and together they unleash hell on, well, hell.

But Crazyhead is much more than girls kicking ass. It’s really a supernatural-themed opus to mental health and loneliness.

After all, growing up can be hell and you’re bound to meet lots of monsters along the way. It’s also a heartening tale of two outcasts who find solace in each other.

So is Crazyhead the Brit version of Buffy the Vampire Slayer?

Well, there’s lots more swearing, rank humour and smut. And the pair have infinitely more, um, interesting ways of dealing with demons — Amy pees on her possessed friend during an exorcism, and Raquel defeats demons by shoving wooden poles up a place where the sun doesn’t shine. It’s basically Buffy on a bad trip. (Photo: FX)
