Barack Obama Picks The Queen's Gambit, Soul, The Boys Among Favourite Movies And TV Shows Of 2020

The former US president just released his list of favourite TV shows, movies and books of 2020.

Barack Obama's favourite TV shows of the year include The Queen's Gambit' and 'Better Call Saul'.

The former President of the United States has revealed his annual list of top movies and television programmes, with the Netflix period drama and Breaking Bad sequel both catching his eye.

Meanwhile, the likes of Ma Rainey's Black Bottom and Soul earned a mention on his 2020 film round-up.

He posted on Twitter: "Like everyone else, we were stuck inside a lot this year, and with streaming further blurring the lines between theatrical movies and television features, I’ve expanded the list to include visual storytelling that I’ve enjoyed this year, regardless of format."

For movies, he also included Mank, Beanpole, Bacura, Lovers Rock, Nomadland, Collective, Time, Boys State, Martin Eden, Selah and the Spades and Crip Camp.

When it comes to television, The Boys and The Good Place have been favourites in the Obama household this year.

Also on the list are I May Destroy You, The Good Lord Bird, Devs, Mrs. America, The Last Dance and City So Real.

Obama also shared his list of top books, while joking about his own — A Promised Land — which came out earlier this year.

He wrote: "As 2020 comes to a close, I wanted to share my annual lists of favorites.

"I’ll start by sharing my favorite books this year, deliberately omitting what I think is a pretty good book – 'A Promised Land' – by a certain 44th president.

"I hope you enjoy reading these as much as I did. (sic)"

The likes of Robert Kolker's Hidden Valley Road, Erik Larson's The Splendid and the Vile' (Erik Larson) and Anne Applebaum's Twilight of Democracy all made the list.

Obama, 59, recently left Eminem stunned after his dramatic reading of the lyrics for 'Lose Yourself', which inspired him during his 2008 presidential campaign.

He said: "When I needed some inspiration on the presidential campaign I often turned to music. It was rap that got my head in the right place.

"Two songs especially: Jay-Z‘s ‘My 1st Song’ and Eminem’s ‘Lose Yourself.' "— BANG
