Andie MacDowell is said to be keeping a watchful eye on her daughter Margaret Qualley’s new boyfriend, Shia LaBeouf.
A source told Us Weekly that the Groundhog Day star is “keeping an extremely close watch on the situation [and] if Shia so much as puts a foot out of line, she’ll come down on him like a ton of bricks.”
Shia, 34, and Margaret, 24, were spotted engaging a major PDA session just weeks ago at Los Angeles International Airport, less than a week after Shia’s ex-girlfriend, British singer FKA Twigs, filed a lawsuit against the actor for sexual battery, assault, and emotional distress.
Margaret is the youngest of three children Andie, 62, shares with ex-husband and former model Paul Qualley. Her sister, Rainey, 30, is a singer and actress, while brother Justin, 34, is a rancher.
Shia and Margaret appeared together in a NSFW music video by Rainsford called ‘Love Me Like You Hate Me’, about a tempestuous relationship. Rainsford is the stage name of Rainey.
The troubled actor has said “many” of the allegations against him “are not true” but accepted “accountability” for his past mistakes. Last week, his lawyer said his client is currently seeking long-term inpatient treatment.
Despite Shia’s well-documented history of personal and legal woes, Margaret is “totally smitten” by him, and “she trusts he’s not the bad guy people say he is.”
