Madame Tussauds is known for making incredibly life-like replicas of famous people through their carefully constructed wax figures. Now the museum attraction is taking things up a notch with its latest Marvel 4D cinema - the first in Asia, no less. Before you go, start with some quirky facts about the wax museum.
10 minutes: How long Madame Tussauds Singapore’s new 4D Marvel film lasts. Iron Man, Spider-Man, Thor and Hulk battle Doctor Doom and his minions at Gardens by the Bay, among other spots on our sunny shores. The interactive experience, replete with water sprays and seat vibrations, is touted as Asia’s first Marvel 4D cinema. It joins two new Marvel superhero figures, Captain America and Iron Man, at the museum.
1: No. of Madame Tussauds wax figures that’ve been reworked, no thanks to, er, molesters. Nicki Minaj’s figure in Madame Tussauds Las Vegas saw the star on all fours, decked in a pair of black knickers and a tribal bra. Modelled after her pose and costume in her music video for ‘Anaconda’, the sexy figure prompted many fans to participate in lewd poses. The museum has since repositioned the attraction, but not before Minaj herself shared a picture on Instagram.
1: No. of Madame Tussauds wax figures to have received a marriage proposal. Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan’s wax iteration was presented with a diamond ring from a female fan in 2007 shortly after being unveiled in London.
4.5 M: Height of the tallest Madame Tussauds figure, the Incredible Hulk, at the museum in London. The smallest — Tinkerbell from Peter Pan — is also housed in London and stands at just 13cm.
3 to 4: No. of months it takes 15 wax artists to complete a figure. The process starts with sitting down with the celebrity, during which over 250 measurements of hair colour, height, and more are taken. First sculpted in clay, the figurines are then cast in wax for 170 hours before an extensive touch-up is done.
2%: How much larger a wax figure is compared to the actual person — that’s how much wax is expected to shrink throughout the molding process.
