Where To Go To See Snow In Singapore This Christmas — From Christmas Wonderland To Changi Airport

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas, with festive events popping up in full force this year around our sunny island. To make things even, er, Christmassier? Throw in some snowfall — yes, in Singapore. We’ve rounded up the best snowy Christmas events in Singapore for you to explore — no need to pile on the Heattech or puffer jackets.

Ice Magic: The Great Fantasy on Ice

From Dec 1, Bayfront Event Space will shapeshift into a winter wonderland, the biggest winter-themed pop-up in Singapore, sprawled over 2,400 sqm. Do you wanna build a snowman, make snow angels or just frolick in real snow?  The folks at Ice Magic will be creating snow from the same snow-making machines used in the Beijing Winter Olympics 2022 — these doodads will start pumping out fresh, fluffy snow as early as 20 days prior to the event opening so you can experience snow cleaner than natural snow in daily snowfalls at a 70m snow slope.

Fancy doing winter sports? Try your hand at ice bowling, ice curling and ice cycling (single and tandem bikes available) in a 260sqm rink, or just slide down a 4.5m-high figure-eight ice slide created by ice sculptors from Harbin. Visitors can chill out at the Ice Bar with a cold beer or ice-themed cocktail, or refuel at a Chocolate Origin pop-up café as well.

This Christmas ice-travaganza is part of the Great Bay Fiesta, a mega merry extravaganza spanning over 20,000 sqm at the Bayfront Event Space. Besides Ice Magic, marvel at circus acts at The Great Cirque de Cascades inside the Big Top (tickets from $72). Or hop on one of the nostalgic rides at Uncle Ringo’s The Great World Carnival before refuelling at one of the stalls at The Great Food Fiesta. Perfect if you’re looking to pack your day with a full-day of fun festive activities.

Christmas Wonderland

Everyone’s favourite Christmas festival is back at Gardens by the Bay from Dec 2. It’s spread out over six different festive zones, but for the snow-starved, get maximum winter feels at Merry Lane’s Snowland, where an illuminated igloo, polar bears and fluffy white snow await.

There’s a ton to explore at Christmas Wonderland, including countless Instagrammable installations, carnival games, Santa meet-and-greets, a Christmas market and F&B stalls. This Christmas glow-up includes all-new exquisite hand-crafted Spalliera installations, including one towering at 21 metres. Hop on a Venetian double-storey carousel, traipse through a 50m-long tunnel lit up by LED lights, enjoy the Garden Rhapsody light and sound show or marvel at a 10m-tall windmill in a kinetic light display field. Yup, be prepared for endless photo opps.

Universal Studios Singapore

Santa’s Spectacular Circus takes over USS this festive season from Nov 23 to Jan 2, 2023, with the theme park’s festive shindig featuring a very merry parade, live circus acts, meet-and-greets and themed photo booths.

Your hunt for snowfall here will lead you to one of the glitziest highlights, Santa’s Circus Extravaganza, happening at 7.30pm daily from Nov 30. The massive parade sees Ringmaster Santa lead over 40 performers, spectacular floats and the likes of the Minions, Po, Tigress and Poppy around the park, and culminates in magnificent snowfall. Snow far snow good? There’s still more snow at the Let It Snow photobooth, where you can snap pics with Santa, Snowgirls and Snowmen amid snowfall at four sessions daily.

Other activities at Santa’s Spectacular Circus include an interactive meet-and-greet session with the adorable Gingy, who’s helping Pastry Pat set up a new bakery for Christmas, and a host of merry carnival games at the Jolly Game Booths.

VivoCity

Inject some snowy fun into your Christmas shopping when you schlep over to the Christmas Village happening at VivoCity’s Outdoor Plaza (Level 1) from Nov 17 to Dec 26. Frolick in festive fun with reindeers, polar bears, and more. Here’s a little wintry weather forecast for you: There are snow display sessions, happening from Monday to Thursday at 7.30pm and 8.30pm, with an additional session at 9.30pm from Friday to Sunday. There are a whopping five sessions on Dec 17— more snowfall expected on this day at 10.30pm and 11.30pm, in addition to the abovementioned timings.

Jewel Changi Airport

Jewel Changi Airport is bringing back its snowy spectacular at the Shiseido Forest Valley from now until Jan 2, 2023. The hourly snowfall, coupled with an Avatar-themed Light & Sound show at the HSBC Rain Vortex and backdropped by the spectacular 16m-tall Prudential Singapore Jewel Christmas tree , will teleport you to a lush winter wonderland. Snowfall forecasted every day at from 7.35pm to 10.35pm, with additional shows from Dec 23-25 and Dec 30 to Jan 1, 2023 (more details below).
