What do you get when you combine the festive holidays with fairytales? You get Hansel and Gretel’s Winter Adventure at Snow City, that’s what. This winter wonderland will be decked with snow fall and a blizzard experience, with visits by acapella singers who come bearing the gift of song (Christmas carols, of course). The little munchkins will also get to attend meet-and-greet sessions with Santa, Hansel and Gretel, and Snow City mascots Oki and Suki.
21 Jurong Town Hall Rd. Nov 17 to Dec 31, 10am to 6pm. Tix from $12 (child) and $15 (adult). More info at www.snowcity.com.sg.
Spend a night at the Singapore Philatelic Museum with The Little Prince
You’ve read the book — yourself and to your little tykes — so of course the next best thing to do is to immerse yourself in the world of The Little Prince. The Overnight Adventure with The Little Prince experience at the SPM lets your kid delve deeper into the Antoine de Saint- Exupéry tale, its adventures, and characters. You also get to visit The Little Prince in the Dark exhibition that walks you through the story through the sense of, not sight, but touch. For kids aged seven to 12 years. Tix from $110 per child, and it covers dinner, supper and breakfast.
23-B Coleman Street. Nov 29-30 and Dec 6-7, 6pm to 9am. More info at www.spm.org.sg.
Take part in an escape room experience… at River Safari
Forget snakes and ladders. The River Safari will be turned into a giant board game from Nov 17 to Dec 30 (weekends and Dec 25 only). The River Lockdown, a collab between the park and Lockdown Singapore escape room, sees the park turn into a board game where you, the adventurer, are stuck in time and have to escape by solving puzzles and learning about river creatures like the electric eel (pictured). You have two hours to do it, or you’ll end up like the last adventurer who got trapped here… for 20 years. This is designed for groups of up to six, so bring the whole clan if you must.
Have a sleepover with penguins at Jurong Bird Park
Sacrifice your creature comforts for one night to sleep next to penguins at Jurong Bird Park. How’s that for a fun school holiday idea? The Sleep with the Penguins Family Camp on Dec 8-9 includes a guided tour, getting up close with the penguins, and the coolest bit of all? Drifting off to sleep next to the penguin enclosures. It comes with a heftier price tag — $110 for kids and $130 for adults — though that includes all admission fees, guided tours and all meals.
