Uber Hasn’t Really Left S’pore. In Fact, It’s Just Moved Into A Brand New Office. But Why?

Waitaminute. Didn’t Uber say goodbye to Singapore last March? The short answer: yes and no. Yes, the US ride-hailing giant exited from Singapore — and Southeast Asia — following its acquisition by Grab one year ago in March 2018. And yes, it's just moved into a fab new 2,000sqm office space that'll spark office envy among some of you. But, no, it’s not relaunching its business here. Instead, its Singapore office serves as its Asia Pacific Regional Hub, as it’s known around here.

Few people know this but even with the Grab and Uber merger one year ago, Uber never really left our shores. It still retained its offices and regional operations here in Tanjong Pagar. And just today (Apr 2), Uber launched its spanking new APAC HQ in Frasers Tower the heart of the CBD, a stone’s throw from its previous digs at Guoco Tower. So while Uber won’t be handing out a deluge of promo codes or sparking price wars among private car-hire services here, the ride-hailing pioneer does have a brand-new office that's probably better than yours.

Keep scrolling for a look at what goes on at the Uber's cool new digs in Singapore.
