Another Singapore Bicentennial event? You’re probably asking: What is it all about, and why does it feel like I’ve been hearing about it for forever? First things first, the Singapore Bicentennial is a commemoration of the 200th anniversary of Sir Stamford Raffles’ arrival in Singapore, so it’s worthy of celebration, okay? And no, it hasn’t been forever— celebrations and activities will take place over 2019.

And if you only have time for one bicentennial event, it ought to be the centrepiece event: From Singapore to Singapore: The Bicentennial Experience. The immersive, multi-sensory journey comprises two parts: Time Traveller, a captivating hour-long indoor cinematic show which takes place in several rooms displaying Singapore’s transformation over 700 years; and Pathfinder, an outdoor trail featuring eight interactive pavilions and installations. Both attractions are free, but you’ll have to book tickets in advance in order to enter the Time Traveller, which will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Tickets for the first month are getting snapped up quick, and it's not hard to see why.
