Plunge Down A 6-Storey-High Water Slide, Try Surfing & More At This Award-Winning Waterpark Near KL
There’s something for everyone, from families to fearless adrenaline junkies.
It doesn’t feel like too long ago when we were ringing in 2024, and now, the mid-year school holidays are already upon us, which means it’s time to start planning that long-awaited getaway if you haven’t already.
As tempting as it is to whisk away to a far-off locale to dodge Singapore’s sweltering heat, trips like that can really burn a hole in your pocket and eat up precious time. But here’s the scoop: we’ve got the ultimate chill-out and cool-off spot right next door in Malaysia.
Just 30 minutes from Kuala Lumpur City Centre (KLCC) and 15 minutes from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), SplashMania Waterpark awaits. With 24 thrilling water slides and 15 other exciting attractions, the one-of-a-kind aquatic playground is perfect for young families, adventurous couples or a squad of thrill-seekers.
Last year, SplashMania took home three Malaysian Association of Theme Park & Family Attractions (MATFA) Golden Horse Awards for Best Waterpark 2023, Best New Waterpark and Best Eco-Friendly Theme Park.
Psst, there’s also a wave of promotions and offers to make your splash-tacular experience even sweeter for you and your wallet. With that, let’s dive into the deets.
Calling all thrill seekers
Just like Disneyland has the iconic Sleeping Beauty Castle as its eye-catching centrepiece, SplashMania Waterpark boasts the majestic Amazonia Ship, which looks like it sailed right out of Pirates of the Caribbean universe and anchored in Gamuda Cove. We’re almost expecting Captain Jack Sparrow to leap out at any moment.
You can’t miss it, by the way — it’s so huge that it can be seen from the Elite Highway. It’ll also make a killer backdrop for all your photos in the park, so get ready to strike your best pirate or mermaid pose.
But the ship isn’t just for show. Like a treasure chest, it houses all kinds of amenities such as an event space and even a DJ deck. It’s also where you’ll find the starting point of the Plunge slide, which, as its name suggests, lets you drop six storeys in an exhilarating freefall before reaching a curved slide and making a splash in the lagoon below. Don’t forget to breathe.
If you can’t get enough of the feeling of your heart leaping right out of your chest, make your way back up the ship to find the Sumaumeira Drop, where you get to chill in a cool trapdoor capsule before plummeting into looping enclosed tubes like a superhero on a mission in a sci-fi flick.
Speaking of missions, Sky Leap will have you feeling as though you’re filming a scene for Mission Impossible as you embark on a 17.5-metre freefall harness drop from the captain’s deck on the very top of the Amazonia Ship into deep waters. Are you as fearless as Tom Cruise? Guess it’s time to find out.
Still craving that adrenaline rush? Not far from the Amazonia Ship is a tower that’s home to two more heart-pounding slides: Monsta and Twista. Expect high-speed drops, turns inspired by slalom skiing, dizzying spins, curved walls, and a whale of a time.
For an out-of-this-world experience, take on Shaka Waka and Rush Havoc, two trippy tube slides that’ll make you feel like you’re in a nightclub as you whizz through surrounded by dramatic sound and visual effects. When you’re done, we won’t blame you if you’re left wondering if you unknowingly entered a time machine and somehow slid into the future.
Fun for all ages
Given the nature of these rides, it’s natural that there are some minimum height and weight requirements in place so young kids might have to wait till they’re a little older to go on them.
That doesn’t mean they’ll be left out of all the fun, of course. Thanks to the Mini Mania section, which has miniature replicas of the Big Boy and Big Girl slides including Monsta and Twista, they can still get a taste of the thrills in more child-friendly doses.
The Treasure Tower may also be made for pint-sized adventurers, but it’s anything but tiny — in fact, this massive combination of slides has the honour of being the tallest waterplay structure in Malaysia. Parents, be warned: you might have trouble getting your little ones to leave once they realise what a blast they’re having.
Should you happen to seek a break from the water, let Zoomi’s Runway whisk you through the air across the park on a zipline that starts from the Amazonia Ship deck. There is no better way to enjoy a bird’s eye view of the place.
Well, almost. The bow of the Amazonia Ship is also a prime place to admire the stunning scenery. Called the Titanic Experience, it’s time to grab your Jack or Rose and re-enact the iconic scene from the classic film and make some fond memories that will go on and on.
Promos to give you even more bang for your buck
After reading this and getting hyped up, you may be thinking: surely all that must cost a bomb? Well, hold on to your swim caps because tickets to SplashMania Waterpark are priced at the super reasonable rates of RM125 (S$36) for adults and RM95 (S$27) for children. That’s less than what you’d spend for a meal at Haidilao.
Do note that some attractions such as Sky Leap, Surf Mania, and Zoomi’s Runway are pay-per-ride. But they’ll be worth every cent.
What’s more, there is a flood of promotions you won’t want to let drift away. For starters, each ticket gets you shopping vouchers to Mitsui Outlet Park so you can indulge in some retail therapy after a day of splashing good fun.
Making all the necessary travel bookings using promo codes via AirAsia MOVE will also net you plenty of great discounts, such as S$10 off all hotels in Malaysia, 10% off airlines including ANA and Bangkok Airways, and two RM5 vouchers for your airport rides. Oh, and if you pay with BigPay as a new user, you get to redeem S$5 cashback credits.
For a seamless and enhanced experience, download the AirAsia MOVE app from the Apple App Store, Google Play Store, or Huawei AppGallery.
SplashMania Waterpark is located at Jalan Cove Sentral 4, Bandar Gamuda Cove, 42700 Kuala Langat, Selangor and is open daily from 10am to 6pm except Wednesdays, unless the Wednesday is a Malaysian public holiday or school holiday.
