So you've gone on your fair share of staycations during the pandemic and are on the hunt for something new? Here's something to consider, if you don't mind splurging a little.
From Dec 16 to Mar 19, 2022, 2D1N staycations at the Singapore Zoo are available to book. At $1,499 per night (not eligible for SingapoRediscovers Vouchers use), prices are comparable to a five-star hotel stay, but hey, this isn’t just a regular staycation. That price includes a stay in an IG-worthy tent for up to four people, a good number of guided tours and experiences, and two meals. There are only three tents available per night.
And these aren’t regular tents, okay? Each dome tent is fully airconditioned (a fan is also provided for good measure), and comes fully decked out with two double beds. You’ll be staying at Pavilion by the Lake in the Singapore Zoo, which means you’ll get to wake up to views of Upper Seletar Reservoir. Not bad.
The staycay starts at 1pm and ends at 10am the next day, and dinner and breakfast at Forest Lodge are included, as well as several private guided tours and experiences at the zoo. After checking in, you’ll be whisked off to get up close with the Asian elephants, go on a guided tour of Wild Africa (you get to feed the white rhinos too), watch the Splash Safari live show (with specially reserved seating) where you’ll be able to get a selfie with a sealion.
You’ll have time to refuel at dinner, before going on a jaunt at Rainforest Lumina to explore the nighttime interactive experience. After brekkie the next morning, there’s a meet-and-greet with an animal ambassador lined up. Talk about a packed schedule.
And don’t worry, you’ll be able to shower at nearby washrooms and charge your devices in the tents, so you won’t be roughing it out. Bookings are only open to vaccinated people, and unvaccinated children aged 12 and under must be from the same household. More info here.
If you fancy something more wallet-friendly, River Wonders’ (formerly River Safari) staycation is $999 per tent, which also accommodates up to four people.
In this case, you’ll be staying in one of the four tents at River Wonders, watching manatees drift by, meeting cute capybaras, and attending other behind-the-scenes sessions and guided tours. A dinner at the Night Safari restaurant and breakfast at Singapore Zoo’s Inuka Café are also included. More info here.
