Animal and nature lovers on the hunt for their next adventure needn’t look further than our own backyard.

The Singapore Zoo is bringing back its glamping staycation experience that lets you sleep under the stars in the zoo. And this time, there’s a refreshed programme with tours that’ll take you behind the scenes to see how vets and carers keep the animals healthy.

The Glamping in the Wild programme is happening in April and is only available for five days on Apr 1, 7, 8, 21 and 22. The 2D1N retreat costs $1,699 per tent and sleeps up to four people (kids must be aged five and over). There are only four tents available each night.

When you want to rough it out, but not too much — each fully airconditioned tent also comes with a fan for good measure, two double beds, and charging points. Bathrooms are steps away from the tents.

Yes, it costs more than a five-star hotel staycation, but if you’re all about making unique memories, there are a few ways that this glamping getaway may be for you.

For starters, you get to sleep in an airconditioned dome tent nestled among lush greenery with a fab view of Upper Seletar Reservoir. The staycay package also includes Singapore Zoo admission for two days, a dinner at Forest Lodge, and a Breakfast in the Wild experience at Ah Meng Restaurant where you get to dine with orangutans and macaws.

But who are we kidding? The exclusive behind-the-scenes guided tours and animal encounters are a big part of the zoo’s glamping staycay too.

Hang out with the zoo’s Asian Elephants at a feeding session and chat with their carers to find out more about these gentle giants. You’ll also get a backstage look at animal healthcare at the Wildlife Nutrition Centre and Wildlife Healthcare and Research Centre to discover the inner workings of keeping some 15,000 animals at Singapore Zoo, Night Safari and River Wonders in the pink of health.

The itinerary also includes a private guided tour at Wild Africa where you’ll learn more about the lions, cheetahs, giraffes and more, before you’re whisked off to your priority seats at the Splash Safari presentation with Californian sea lions.

If you’re into aquatic animals, you ought to know that River Wonders’ Glamping with the Manatees staycation is happening in April as well, at $1,299 per tent that sleeps up to four pax, and only four tents up for booking nightly.

Tents are perched next to the world’s largest freshwater aquarium. Meet-and-greets with animals, priority seating at live presentations, dinner and breakfast and other activities included in the programme as well.
