Support The Local Businesses You Love With Shop Small
Launched here in 2020, the Shop Small movement by American Express became a silver lining for pandemic-hit businesses, calling attention to the valuable contributions small and local businesses make to their communities and the economy and encouraging shoppers to support them.

Thankfully, there’s reason to rejoice this festive season with the economy recovering from Covid shock — lest we forget that small and local businesses help fuel Singapore’s economy. From Sept 1-30, 2022, American Express ran the Shop Small Singapore Hunt islandwide. The reason for this campaign? To back shoppers so they can back the small and local businesses they love.
Participants had to find QR codes displayed at participating Shop Small businesses or on the Shop Small roving truck and scan them to collect points and scale the leaderboard. As a bonus, exclusive QR codes were also up for grabs at three pop-up events held in CIMB Plaza (Sept 13), IMM (Sept 17) and Bugis Junction (Sept 24). Three fun-filled afternoons were spent playing games with DJs from Mediacorp Class 95 and 987FM; cool music was spun, and participants enjoyed free gelato from Birds of Paradise and collected Shop Small eco bags designed by Esther Goh. During the campaign month, there were 4,052 participant accounts registered and 10,381 QR codes scanned.
