Pet-Friendly Hotel Review: My Dog Checked In To Oasia Resort Sentosa For A Staycation. Here's How It Went

8days review: Checking in to the Oasia Resort Sentosa

We skipped the busy main lobby for check-in and made a beeline for a more secluded Palawan Lobby in the hotel that’s reserved for Paw-fect Retreat guests. Quick, seamless and plenty of space for Crunch to roam around to sniff out his surroundings without disturbance in airconditioned comfort too. Safe to say, this process is both dog- and owner-approved. 

The room and staycation experience

Our first impression of the Courtyard Premier Room: it’s very spacious (it’s a whopping 63sqm), which meant that there was plenty of space for Crunch to roam around too.

There’s also a separate al fresco courtyard area with a dining table, chairs and bean bags. However, the courtyard area is walled up, it means that you don’t get direct window access anywhere in the room, though natural light still streams in from the courtyard.

But the room's best feature has to be the space. We thought there was more than enough for Crunch to explore in the room, but there's even more space for furkids here too. And if you're in the mood, perhaps even a self-guided yoga sesh (a yoga mat is provided in the room). If you prefer to head out for your workout, there's always the hotel pool or gym (dogs are not allowed). 

In-room amenities (for humans) are adequate — coffee and tea sachets, water and coconut water are provided. But you don’t have to worry about not having enough beverages with shops just a stone’s throw away at the Imbiah Station monorail stop.

What your furkids can expect: Pet-friendly activities and amenities for dogs

One thing we liked was that we didn’t have to pack much of Crunch’s stuff for the staycation — almost everything he needed was provided (we only packed his food for his dinner). In the pet amenities kit provided, there were the basics like pet bowl, bed, pet wipes and pee pads. But we (especially the doggo, of course) were pleasantly surprised to also find treats — both the pork jerky and laksa kueh bangkit definitely got Crunch’s stamp of approval. There was also a pet bandana for photo opps because what’s a holiday without the fit checks to prove it?

But one of our favourite things in the pack: the dog snuffle mat provided, which is one of Crunch’s favourite activities to do at home and keeps him busy for a long time. 

While furkids are not allowed at the swimming pool or the hotel gym, there’s still plenty to do in the vicinity. And, no, you don’t even have to do your own research. The hotel provides a pet-friendly trail map that you can follow. We highly recommend checking out Sensoryscape at night — the immersive light and sound trail is just a minute’s walk from the hotel and has photo opps galore (don’t forget that dog bandana). 

Food and drinks (for humans) 

Breakfast at Bedrock Origin is provided with the package, though if you’re dining with your furry pals, you will be seated at the al fresco dining area. Upon check in, we were asked to book a time slot for breakfast. We should preface this by saying that we were there on a holiday weekend, so breakfast service was slightly hectic, and we had to queue for a table for a bit despite having booked a time slot, though this may not be the case all the time. Food is ordered from a menu while beverages and fruits are offered buffet-style. 

While breakfast service wasn’t what we expected, it’s worth noting that our dinner at Bedrock Origin was a completely different experience — in a pawsitive way. There weren’t super long waits for food, and service was attentive, even though we were seated outdoors with the dog. Among the scrummy mains on the menu, do not miss out on hearty dishes like the kingfish sashimi, hamachi collar chop and dry-aged ribeye. 
 

In a nutshell: To go or not to go?

Great for special occasions or for folks looking for a respite from the city and want to bring their dogs along. Pet-friendly hotel staycations in Singapore don’t come cheap, but if you want to hole away in Sentosa with your furkids at a more affordable price than Capella’s room rates, this could be a viable option. Among all, its location in Sentosa is fab, with a plethora of pet-friendly F&B options and activities within walking distance, and this convenience is key, especially with a dog in tow.

Fine print and pet policies to know before you go

As with most pet-friendly hotels, Oasia Resort Sentosa has a few pet policies in place. 

• Dogs must be 15kg and below
• Maximum two dogs per room. Additional dog chargeable at $83.93 nett per stay.
• Dogs not allowed at swimming pool, gym, Oasia Spa and indoor space of Bedrock Origin.
• Dogs must be on leash or in a carrier/pram at all times when out of the room.
