No, You Can’t Combine Your SingapoRediscovers Vouchers With Someone Else — And Everything To Know About Redeeming The $100 Vouchers
Redemption starts Dec 1, but there's a reason you may want to wait to redeem.
We’ve known for a while now that every Singaporean aged 18 and over will receive $100 in SingapoRediscovers Vouchers from Dec 1, 2020 to Jun 30, 2021. With just about one week to go before redemption begins, the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) has released more details about redemption. And, boy, there is a lot to take in.
The $100 can be used for tours, attraction tickets and staycations bookable at five authorised platforms — Changi Travel Services (better known as Changi Recommends), GlobalTix, Klook & UOB Travel Planners (as consortium members), Traveloka and Trip.com. There are also physical booths set up islandwide to help those who need assistance to set up their SingPass accounts, or to book experiences. Each adult Singaporean can redeem up to six child/youth subsidies (that's a $10 discount per child/youth ticket) for family members aged below 18.
Scroll on for a handy guide on how to redeem them, answers to frequently asked questions, and why it pays to wait to use your vouchers.
Step-by-step guide to redeeming SingapoRediscovers Vouchers (SRV) online
Step 1: Have your SingPass details handy. If you haven’t registered for a SingPass account or have forgotten your password, get it sorted before Dec 1, 2020.
Step 2: Start shopping for experiences on one of the five authorised booking partners’ websites — Changi Travel Services (aka Changi Recommends), GlobalTix, Klook & UOB Travel Planners (as consortium members), Traveloka and Trip.com. There are tours, attraction tickets, staycations and even bundled packages available to book. Eligible products are marked with the SingapoRediscovers Vouchers icon.
Step 3: Select the experiences and dates you wish to book and add to cart. When you’re ready to pay, click on ‘Use SingapoRediscovers Vouchers’ at checkout.
Step 4: Log in with SingPass. If you have family members under 18 years old, this is the point where you redeem the $10 discount per child or youth ticket as well by clicking on ‘Activate child/youth subsidies’ and keying in their NRIC number and names. In order to redeem child/youth subsidies, you must have at least $10 left in your SRV balance. Child/youth subsidies are automatically deducted from your total checkout amount, so you may need to use fewer vouchers.
Step 5: Generate a promo code by selecting how many SRV you want to use (in denominations of $10, up to $100), and copy the promo code.
Step 6: Use the voucher promo code you’ve just generated. Paste the promo code on the checkout page and pay outstanding amount (if any).
Step 7: Complete the checkout process in 10 minutes. Your SRV are only deducted after you’ve completed the booking.
How to redeem SingapoRediscovers Vouchers at physical touchpoints
There are physical booths available for two purposes: to help set up SingPass accounts, or to redeem vouchers. About 53 Community Centres/Clubs will have counters to help with SingPass registration or password reset services (full list here). Those who need help redeeming SRV can go one of the 69 booking counters islandwide, most are within CCs or a five-minute walk from CCs, and at some malls and SingPost locations (full list here).
Combining vouchers with someone else, buying tix for other people… and other loopholes you think you’ve found
#1: Can you sell or transfer your SRV to someone else?
That’s a definite no. SingapoRediscovers Vouchers are for personal use only, and are non-transferable to minimise the risk of fraud. STB will work with the authorised platforms to monitor any resale of vouchers and take appropriate action, such as forfeiting all unutilised SRV or refer cases to the police for investigation.
#2: Can you combine your SRV with someone else’s to make a purchase?
No. The SRV cannot be combined with those belonging to another individual to buy the same product.
#3: Can you redeem vouchers on behalf of someone else?
No. The vouchers may only be redeemed via SingPass and are meant for personal use.
#4: Can you use your SRV to buy tickets to be used by another person?
The transfer of products purchased depends on the respective merchants, so read the fine print before you book. If the T&Cs allow for transfers, then you can make your purchase with SRV first, then transfer them to others.
Why it pays to wait to redeem
More deals will be rolled out during the seven months that the scheme is in place, according to STB Chief Executive Mr Keith Tan. In other words, there is no need to rush to use the vouchers once it kicks off on Dec 1, especially if you're the type who likes to weigh their options.
SingapoRediscovers Vouchers can be redeemed from Dec 1, 2020 to Jun 30, 2021. More info at go.gov.sg/srvouchers.
