It’s beginning to look a lot like a prehistoric Christmas at Changi Airport Terminal 4. Festive market Dino Fest is the third and final event to kick off at T4’s dino-themed year-end festivities (Dino Kart and Dino Bounce are already open to public, more details here).
But it’s not just any festive market. For starters, the market at T4’s Departure Hall is only open every Thursday to Sunday from now until Dec 27, from 3pm to 11pm. Over 40 F&B and retail vendors have set up shop at Dino Fest.
It’s a ticketed event, and each ticket allows you entry for two hours. Prices range from $5-7 for kids aged seven to 12, and $6-9 for people aged 13 and over. Kids below six enter for free. Each child ticket comes with a complimentary activity and each standard ticket comes with five $1 Dino Dine vouchers. You’ll need to either pre-purchase tickets or buy them onsite for entry. Crowd numbers are limited to under 1,000 per two-hour timeslots.
All these measures may not be what you’re used to at markets such as Artbox Singapore (incidentally, organised by the same folks behind Dino Fest), but we’re still in the midst of a pandemic after all. All that effort to get to the market will be worth it when you get to the highlight of the extravaganza: meeting roving raptors and petting baby dinosaurs.
Meet dinosaurs up close
Expect a couple of raptors ambling through the airport twice every two hours. Don’t worry, despite how they look, they’re rather friendly. The raptor show is on three times every two hours.
Besides that, you can also pet baby dinosaurs. Both of these activities do not require pre-booking, but as you would expect, there’d probably be a queue. There are three sessions every two hours.
It’s a dino-themed extravaganza, so of course the prehistoric theme doesn’t stop there.
Among the event’s main display is a large theropod dinosaur that’s been dissected into two by a paleontologist. The life-life animatronic dinosaur rawrs to life when you get up close. You’ll see its exposed, er, innards on one side...
...and a vibrant mural painted on the other side of his body.
More photo opps await—this time, you get to be a baby dinosaur that’s just hatched from the egg. Egg-citing stuff.
Each child ticket comes with a complimentary activity — choose from a tote bag workshop, paint a dino sculpture or have two tries at the claw machine.
For the foodies: Dino Dine
Each standard ticket comes with $5 worth of vouchers to use at Dino Dine, so you might as well mosey over here to refuel. The Dino Dine zone takes over the T4 food court on Level 2M.
There are 23 stalls of grub, plenty of which are not just Insta-worthy, but are exclusive to Dino Fest. Think special Liho tea flavours like creamy chocolate blend topped with organic acai pearls ($6).
Other items to expect here: Hot Star Large Fried Chicken’s oversized fried chicken with kimchi seasoning, Chin Sin Huan’s salted egg custard with red bean paste deep fried pau and a popcorn flavoured milk tea served up in dino egg cups by Bober Tea.
