Have a natural knack for solving mysteries? Or perhaps your sleuthing skills have been honed from the hours of Insta-stalking. Either way, no judgement. In fact, those skills could be put to good use now in Murder at Mandai Camp: The Case Reopens, an upcoming virtual horror mystery gameplay experience. Wait, what do all these words mean?

Think of it as a play combined with an escape room experience, except that it all happens online. The story centres around an unsolved case of the murder of an NS recruit at Mandai Camp. The case has been reopened by a CID officer (played by Benjamin Kheng), and viewers have 90 minutes to help him solve the mystery. Anyone who cracks the case will also stand a chance to win $1,000 — yes, in real life.

A ticket for the 90-min experience is $20, and you get to choose when you want to crack the case — it runs daily from Dec 22 to Jan 16, 2020 from 8pm to 4am.

Murder at Mandai Camp: The Case Reopens is a sequel to Murder at Mandai Camp, an interactive play that debuted in June and was held on Zoom. However, the experience for the sequel has been zhuzhed up a lot more and now takes place in a digital realm replete with 360-degree views in augmented reality and choose-your-own adventure mechanics. As an investigator, you’ll get to click on evidence in rooms, replay interview recordings and analyse other clues available to you in order to solve the mystery. Still unsure? There’s now a demo version available at to pique your interest.

Want more clues for added advantage? Sight Lines Entertainment, the folks behind Murder at Mandai Camp, have tied up with Ah Sam Cold Drink Stall to come up with cocktail packages that come with an additional clue to help you solve the mystery.
