Go-Kart Track, Festive Market To Take Over Changi Airport T4, Which Has Been Empty For Months

It’s all part of Changi Airport’s year-end festivities, which are safely distanced and spread out over T3, T4 and Jewel this year.

Go-Kart Track, Festive Market To Take Over Changi Airport T4, Which Has Been Empty For Months

Changi Airport Terminal 4 has been empty the past few months, no thanks to Covid-19. But it’ll soon get a new (temporary) lease of life, and it won’t have anything to do with flights. Instead, there will be a festive market and go-kart track at the terminal as part of the Changi Festive Village, which is Changi Airport’s festive extravaganza spread out over T3, T4 and Jewel Changi Airport this year.

But don’t be surprised if you see more T-rexes than Santa Clauses over here. They’re going all out with the dinosaur theme this year, in conjunction with the recent launch of Jurassic Mile.

What’s happening at Terminal 4

Dino Fest, a festive market that will see some 50 F&B and lifestyle retail stalls take over the Terminal 4 Departure Hall from Dec 3 to 27, only on Thursdays to Sundays. But it’s not just any market — there will be roving dinosaurs ambling through the area, so you can expect plenty of photo opps.

This is a ticketed event in order to control the crowd numbers, say organisers, who happen to be the folks behind popular markets such as Artbox Singapore. A ticket is $8 (free for those aged six and younger with an accompanying adult), and includes a $5 voucher for F&B and access to activities such as dino petting, roving raptors meet and greet and more.

What: Dino Fest
When: Dec 3 to 27
Opening hours: Thu to Sun at 3-11pm (last entry 10pm)

Thrill seekers will most likely make a beeline for Dino Kart, a go-karting track that takes over the terminal’s taxi waiting area at T4 Arrival.

There are two separate tracks for adults and kids (aged nine and above). Stay until nighttime and you’ll be able to see the track decked out in neon lights and whizz through lighted tunnels.

To get on one of these go-karts, you’ll have to spend a minimum of $30 (or $80 in supermarkets) in the airport or purchase activity passes online (tix from $12).

What: Dino Kart
When: From Nov 26 (6pm) to Dec 31
Opening hours: Mon to Wed at 3-10pm, Thu– Sun, eves of public holidays and PHs at 2pm – 11pm

Jump for joy with prehistoric creatures at the Dino Bounce, a 30m-long bouncy castle with two zones.

When: Nov 26 (6pm) to Jan 3.
Opening hours: Mon to Wed at 3-10pm (last entry 9.30pm), Thu to Sun, eve of public holidays and PHs at 2-11pm (last entry 10.30pm).

There will be shuttle buses from Terminal 3 and Jewel Changi Airport to T4.

Terminal 3 festivities

Still can’t get enough of those prehistoric creatures? Mosey over to Terminal 3, where there’s Dino Wanderland. Think of it as an extension to Jurassic Mile, without having to brave the elements of nature (or stray golf balls).

There are nine dinosaurs in this vast display right before the departure gates, so remember to explore all around for different IG-worthy shots from every angle of this massive centrepiece.

Intrepid explorers can venture inside the display and onto the sleigh for an official photo. You’ll even leave with a print out of the snapshot. For this, you’ll need to spend a minimum of $30 at participating outlets in Changi Airport, or purchase a pass for $5 online.

What: Dino Wanderland
Where: Terminal 3, Departure Hall, in front of Departure Immigration
When: Now until Jan 3. Open daily 3-9pm on weekdays, 11am-9pm on weekends and public holidays.

Who wants a winter Singapoliday? Also at T3 is Tokidoki Snow Holiday, a whimsical double storey snow house, set up in collaboration with Snow City.

There’s a luge ride, slides and of course, plenty of snowfall for you to pretend you’re in a winter wonderland somewhere else in the world.

Temperatures dip to -10 degrees Celsius here, so you probably should be wearing more than just T-shirt and shorts.

Those who aren’t dressed for the occasion can borrow snow shoes, winter jackets and gloves from here (don’t worry, they’re sanitised after use).

What: Tokidoki Snow Holiday
Where: Terminal 3, Departure Hall (next to check-in row 11)
When: Now until Jan 3. Open daily from 10.40am to 10.20pm (last entry 9.40pm).

Diehard Tokidoki fans should probably not leave without boarding a flight on Air Tokidoki.

What exactly is Air Tokidoki? It’s a plane! It’s a pop-up store! No, it’s both! There’s a Tokidoki plane, replete with actual plane seats from a Boeing 777, and even simulated views in the plane windows, for those who miss flying. There are also rows of Tokidoki merch that’ll delight both kids, kidults and the people who need to buy gifts for Tokidoki fans.

What: Air tokidoki
Where: Terminal 3, Basement 2 (opposite Kopitiam)
When: Now until Jan 3. Open daily 10am-11pm.

Changi Festive Village is on from Nov 19 to Jan 3, 2021 at Changi Airport Terminals 3 and 4, and Jewel Changi Airport. More info at www.changifestivevillage.com.
