Go To A Gif Festival — And Check Out Some Local Bands — This Week

If you’re a child of the Internet, there’s no way you’re not familiar with gifs. You may know that it stands for Graphics Interchange Format, but you may not know that for a week come Oct 5, the inaugural Noise x GIF Fest 2017 is happening at Gillman Barracks. An art exhibition with moving images? Yup, there's more to gifs than just memes. A collaboration between Noise Singapore and kult, it will showcase 50 gifs created by some of Singapore’s most exciting young image makers.

There are also masterclasses by photographer Aik Beng Chia if you want to level up your photos, and a kids gif making workshop by EYEYAH! Slink over on opening night (Oct 5) from 7pm onwards for performances from local acts Intriguant, Kiat featuring spoken word poet Deborah Emmanuel, and appropriately-named electronic duo, .gif.

Check out some works below for a preview of what to expect.
