Things are about to get lit, literally.

Get Your Cameras Ready: i Light Marina Bay Festival Returns This Weekend (Mar 9)

With free admission and three weeks of mesmerising light installations, it's easy to see why everyone's waiting for the i Light Marina Bay festival year after year. Here's some trivia about the festival, so you know, you can sound smart while everyone's Boomerang-ing their way through Marina Bay.

#1: It features 22 artworks from 14 countries, including Singapore.

This year the festival is bigger, brighter, and most likely teeming with more Instagramming hordes too — festivities extend beyond the Marina Bay area to the Civic District for the first time, and include inflatable art park, Art-Zoo, and food festival GastroBeats.

#2: For a different experience, head down on Mar 24.

The sustainable light art installation festival will switch off its shimmering installations for one hour on Mar 24 during Earth Hour.

#3: There's a bigger message to all of this besides pretty lights.

More than 2,000 plastic milk bottles, equivalent to about seven months' worth of plastic waste generated by an individual, are used in Singapore-based architect BP Loh's i Light installation, Milk Bottle Cows. Enough motivation for you to start to reduce, reuse, and recycle?

i Light Marina Bay 2018 is from Mar 9 to Apr 1, 7.30pm to 11pm (midnight on Fri and Sat) at the Marina Bay Waterfront. For more info, visit https://www.ilightmarinabay.sg.
