It's the most Insta-worthy, sorry we mean, wonderful time of the year. Christmas Wonderland at Gardens by the Bay kicks off Dec 1. And if you thought you’d already seen it all at its previous three editions, you thought wrong. We got a sneak peek at a media preview and here’s what to expect.
For starters, the yuletide fest will feature gourmet food fest Savour. Fill your tummies with nosh from 10 restaurants, including the Michelin-starred Shoukouwa and Saint Pierre, from $6. There's also a super ’grammable inflatable snow globe that doubles up as an air-conditioned seating area for diners.
Visitors can also try their hand at the first outdoor ice-skating rink, go on twice the number of carnival rides (ferris wheel! Bumper cars!), meet Santa at his Grotto and catch an array of performances.
But what’s Christmas without snow, even in sunny Singapore? The highly popular Blizzard Time is back at the centerpiece of the Christmas festival — the Spallliera. At 22.5m (or even storeys high), the intricate Italian light sculpture (or luminarie) is the tallest one at the festive market yet, and is among the 70 such structures peppered throughout the 57,000sqm fairground (that’s the size of five soccer fields). You know, the ones that you’ll be seeing all over your Instagram feed this festive season.
Dec 1 to 26, 4 to 11pm. Admission starts from $4; tix from www.gardensbythebay.com.sg. For more info, go to www.christmaswonderland.sg.
