Catch Hello Kitty DJ-ing At This Upcoming NYE Fireworks Musical Extravaganza  

The Marina Bay Singapore Countdown (MBSC) will be held on Dec 31 at The Float at Marina Bay for the final time on New Year’s Eve (the venue will undergo redevelopment soon). Held in conjunction with MBSC is the Star Island Singapore Countdown, which makes its return after two years. So of course, things are going to be extra special at this year’s countdown.

How special? Well, how about having Hello Kitty do a DJ set at the NYE shindig? Yes, that’s right, everyone’s favourite mouthless feline will be there spinning tunes to usher in 2023.

Star Island, an 80-minute fireworks and music extravaganza, will light up the skies at Marina Bay with 10 special firework bursts which were awarded the ‘Prime Minister’s Award’ at what’s been described as “Japan’s Olympics of fireworks”. This will also be the first time that the dazzling display will be seen in Southeast Asia. The fireworks spectacular is complemented by a musical soundtrack for a multi-sensory experience.

But this countdown party doesn’t start just before midnight, though. There will be a pre-show gig at a Sanrio-themed family-friendly zone where DJ Hello Kitty will helm the decks.

Star Island tickets are priced from $88 to $318 and are already on sale (available here). If you want to usher in 2023 in style, fork out $6,888 (or more) for a VVIP Suites package that gives you sofa seats, table service, lounge access and a bird’s eye view of the fireworks for up to six people (e-mail info [at] avex.asia for bookings).

If you’re still in two minds about buying a ticket, there’s a free admission Prequel to Star Island preview event from Dec 25 to 31 that will give you a taster of what to expect for the main event. Held at the Marina Bay Sands Event Plaza, there will be past editions of the show played on LED screens, a Sanrio pop-up store, and a food village.
