It’s no secret that Singaporeans are crazy about coffee — from a good ol’ Kopi C gao siew dai at the hawker stall to carefully crafted home-ground pour-overs. In fact, a 2023 study found that the equivalent of 105,000 60 kg bags of coffee were consumed in the Lion City. Now that’s a lot of beans.
I’ll admit I’m part of the crowd. My favourite? A velvety flat white, crowned with a barista’s frothy flourish of a swan or heart for that perfect Insta snap, best sipped soothingly in a Japandi-chic cafe. But honestly, I’m just as happy with a three-in-one sachet or a pumpkin spice frappe, because when it comes to coffee, I’m an equal-opportunity sipper.
So why am I going on and on about my fondness for caffeine? Well, I just heard CapitaLand malls and Nestlé are teaming up this festive season with ‘A Carnival of Festive Cheer at CapitaLand Malls’. This is the first time where we will get to celebrate the delicious pairing of KitKat and Nestlé’s celebrated coffee trio: Nescafé, Nescafé Dolce Gusto and Nespresso — and it sounds like a brew-tiful holiday dream come true for chocolate and coffee fans like yours truly.
Coffee tastings at Carnival of Cheer
For starters, I cannot wait to be first in line at the Nespresso Coffee Creations Corner, available at Carnival of Cheer at Plaza Singapura’s main atrium, happening from November 6 to 17 at 10am to 8pm daily.
Here I’ll get to try a range of coffee styles from an Espresso, Double Espresso to a Long Black. And the best part? I get to be my own barista and create my own recipes, including delectable creations like Rich Chocolate Cappuccinos, Toffee Nut Twist & Festive Vanilla Lattes. Exclusive for this season, you’ll also be able to elevate them with specially curated holiday candy sprinkles to add to the festivities!
Fun games & delicious prizes to be won
Now, I’m no gaming pro, but I’ll still be diving into the four carnival games at this Carnival of Cheer event — especially with a lineup of tasty prizes making it all worthwhile.
Each game calls for skill, luck, or a bit of both. For example, the KitKat Break Toss and Nescafé Ring Toss will put your aim to the test, while Nespresso Plinko lets gravity decide which prize lands in your hands. And then there’s Nescafé Dolce Gusto Guess the Capsule, where you’ll need to channel your inner psychic and guess the number of coffee pods in the display. (Hint: there’s a lot.)
To play, just comment your answer and location (Plaza Singapura or Bugis+) on @CapitaLandMallsSG’s Instagram post. Be sure to follow, ‘like’ the post, tag a friend so they can join in, then cross your fingers and hope you nailed it — or at least got close enough.
Three winners from each location will score some spectaculareriously sweet prizes, like Nescafé Dolce Gusto - Genio S White Basic Coffee Machines (worth $170 each) and Nespresso Vertuo Pop Machines (worth $249 each) *gasp!*. Oh, and one more thing: you’ll have to sign up as a CapitaStar Member and key in the reward code <CHEER> in the CapitaStar app to redeem free eVouchers to be able to play the games. Don’t worry, it’ll only take a few minutes and you’re all set.
Festive concoctions and latte workshops
The fun continues over at Bugis+ from November 20 to December 1, you’ll also be able to delight in festive concoctions at the Brew-tiful Bars, enjoy flavours like Nescafé Affogato, Nescafé Caramel Swirl Latte and KitKat Hot Cocoa by Nescafé Dolce Gusto. To add on to the fun, there’s also the Nescafé Dolce Gusto Workshop, where a fascinating lesson on the history of coffee and essential brewing methods awaits. By the end of the class, I’ll have unlocked recipes for divine concoctions like Popcorn Caramel Macchiato and Yuzu Sparkling Americano. Yummy.
Here are some key details to keep in mind: there’s only one Nescafé Dolce Gusto Workshop each day — 7pm to 8pm on weekdays and 3pm to 4pm on weekends — and each session caters up to 15 people. Just spend $50 or more to redeem an eVoucher and secure your spot.
Oh, and did I mention there’s a chance to join a fun, hands-on latte art demonstration? Apologies in advance to my Instagram followers — expect a stream of photos showing off my new milky masterpieces. But hopefully, all will be forgiven once I surprise them with goodies from Nestlé’s festive pop-up stores.

Soak in the festive vibes & atmosphere
Coffee talk aside, what’s the holiday season without loads of dazzling lights and fun decorations? After all, I’ll need plenty of cute backdrops to pose against while flaunting my festive fits.
Luckily for me, from November 6 to December 31, 17 CapitaLand malls will be transformed into magical Christmas wonderlands and I’m already planning my stops.
Bedok Mall, IMM, Junction 8, Lot One, SingPost Centre, Tampines Mall, and Westgate will be home to an adorable Ferris wheel with the iconic red Nescafé mugs spinning next to a Christmas tree decorated with KitKat Santas and baubles. Plus, there’s a KitKat Santa just chilling on a chocolate bench with balloons all around him. Way too cute.
Over at Aperia Mall, Bugis Junction, CQ @ Clarke Quay, Funan, and Kallang Wave Mall, there will be a Nescafé Dolce Gusto and KitKat display featuring a huge rotating carousel stacked with colourful Nescafé Dolce Gusto capsules and a bright Christmas tree.
And then we have Plaza Singapura, Raffles City, Bukit Panjang Plaza, and Sengkang Grand Mall and their elegant Nespresso and KitKat display featuring coral and Prussian blue Nespresso gift boxes stacked to look like a Christmas tree, along with a glowing KitKat arch with red and gold baubles. Just the kind of thing to elevate my #fitcheck shots.
So yes, my camera roll is about to be bursting, but I’m certainly not complaining. Especially when I’m about to indulge in my love for all things coffee.
