Just because you can’t be at the museum physically, doesn’t mean you can’t celebrate International Museum Day, which falls on May 18. This year’s festivities centre on the theme ‘Museums for Equality: Diversity and Inclusion’, and will include a host of activities that you can do from home. Try  making performer puppets using materials from home, or take part in an online scavenger hunt and explore Singapore’s various performing art forms at the same time (and stand a chance to win vouchers as well).

The school holidays are here so it’s time for a day out with the children at the National Gallery Singapore — at home, of course. Head to Gallery Kids for interactive games, hands-on activities and downloadable activity print-out sheets that will keep the kiddos occupied and creative at the same time. Storytelling video sessions, masterclasses and art tutorials will allow the young ones to unleash their inner artist (and for Mum and Dad to grab a quick drink, or three). Among the artists helming the sessions is Singaporean painter Yeo Shih Yun, who will impart knowledge on various art techniques, and even how to build your own unconventional painting tools from items at home.

You’re home all day now, so you might as well learn how to spruce things up a little. And you don’t have to be a domestic god or goddess to do so. Bosch has lined up three virtual classes on May 9 on its Facebook page. It’s an eight-hour extravaganza that kicks off at 9am and sessions covering everything from baking and nutrition to comedy and fitness will run until 5pm. Among the guest line-up are Glace and Flor Patisserie’s Chef Yamashita, host-presenter Charlotte Mei (above) and home baker MissGoob. If you own any Bosch appliances at home, you’ll want to hear from the brand’s experts on how to keep them in tip-top shape as well.

Aaron Kwok will hold a free online concert on May 9 at 5pm. The hour-long gig will stream live on his Facebook page and YouTube channel. The Heavenly King will perform from Harbour City mall in Tsim Sha Tsui in Hongkong. Proceeds from the concert will go towards dancers and backstage crew that the 54-year-old star has worked with, and who’ve been hard hit by the loss of income during the Covid-19 pandemic. “I also hope to encourage everyone and spread positivity at this time,” he said in his announcement on social media.

If you need a light-hearted laugh, or 10, tune in to The City of Good Show. Organised by the National Volunteer & Philanthropy Centre (NVPC) and local donation platform Giving.sg, the live comedy show happening on May 9 at 8pm will feature a bevy of comedians who will bring some joy and cheer into your circuit breaker life. But it’s not just about fun and games. The City of Good Show aims to raise funds for over 20 charities that have fallen under the radar of public consciousness due to the coronavirus outbreak — including Alzheimer’s Disease Association, Mercy Relief and Assisi Hospice — with some seeing a 70 per cent drop in donations.

The folks at Wild Rice want to bring the theatre into your home during this circuit breaker, and will stream three of its most popular and successful shows online for free. Part of the local theatre company’s Wild@Home series, each production will be available on Wild Rice’s YouTube channel for seven days. It kicks off with Emily of Emerald Hill, streaming from Apr 24 at 7.30pm onwards. At the end of each week-long cycle, audiences can tune in for a live talkback sesh with the artists involved in the respective productions. It happens every Thursday at 9pm.
