The filmmakers are looking for people 18 and older who are able to Chinese-Singaporeans or Asian characters. By ‘people’, they mean “aspiring actors, unique personalities, fans of the book or simply those excited to try something new”.
The budding performers will be asked to provide some basic personal info, read for a brief scene, and most of all, have fun. Here's Chu with more details.
“Knowing the technology that exists out there, we want to give the people the opportunity to show us what they got,” Chu tells 8 DAYS over the phone from LA.
“There are some speaking and non-speaking roles, some fun, some serious, really great character roles, “ he adds. “We’re looking for [actors to play characters of] all walks of life!”
At press time, the main cast has yet to be announced. The movie starts filming in April.
