Arty Things To Do This Weekend (June 22 to 24)

This is how you add colour to your weekend.

It’s all about art and soul.

#1: Art Day Out! x The School Holidays Edition 2018

Round off the June holidays with the school holidays edition of Gillman Barracks’ open house (main pic). Among the slew of arty-farty activities lined up is EYEPOP, an exhibition for those aged eight and over featuring — you guessed it — eye-popping kaleidoscopic pop culture-inspired illustrations, and an interactive element to educate the young (or young-at-heart) about going green and minimising plastic waste. Elsewhere in the tranquil creative enclave: a pop-up shop by local fashion collective MASH-UP, a food truck, new outdoor exhibits at the DISINI Festival 2018, family-friendly hands-on workshops by various artists that will get you inspired and those creative juices flowing.

June 23, 2pm to 7pm, at Gillman Barracks (9 Lock Road). Free admission.

#2: The Cathay’s Ink & Cut

So you’re a little artistically-challenged. Let someone else create art for you…on you. Get a free mystery tattoo by artists from Traditions Tattoo Collective, or for something less permanent, a hair tattoo by the folks from The Golden Rule Barber Co when you spend a minimum of $50 (maximum of two same-day receipts) at The Cathay. Not in the mood to jazz up your look? Stand by the sidelines and watch the live showcases by artists.

June 23 and 24, 1pm to 9pm, at The Cathay (2 Handy Road), Internal Atrium Level 1.
