Alternate Row Seating On Rides, Memberships Extended & Other Things To Note When Universal Studios Singapore Reopens Jul 1

Thirteen attractions in Singapore have been given the green light to resume business in Phase 2 — theme parks, integrated resorts, wildlife parks can reopen on Jul 1, following the resumption of operations at museums last week.

Among the attractions to welcome visitors again on Jul 1 is Universal Studios Singapore. As Elmo, the Minions and the rest of the crew get back to work after almost three months, there will be standard safe management procedures in place at USS (mandatory mask-wearing, temperature-taking and stepped up cleaning), but also a few more safe management measures to keep everyone safe. Will you be able to take all rides? What’s going to happen to your annual pass membership? There are a few things you should know before your next USS jaunt.

Temperature screening of all guests at USS

#1: USS will only be open 4 days a week
USS will reopens this week and will stay open from Jul 1-5. Thereafter, it will be open only from Thursdays to Sundays from Jul 9 onwards. Opening hours in this initial phase are 2pm-9pm from Thur-Sun.

#2: You can’t just turn up and waltz into USS, even if you’re an Annual or Season Pass Holder
All guests, including annual and season pass holders, have to make an advanced reservation and book a day of visit at https://sdm.rwsentosa.com in order to be admitted into the park. No tickets will be sold onsite for now.

#3: All rides are available, but live shows and street entertainment are not
Thrill seekers will be pleased to know that all rides will be back in action. However, parades, fireworks and live shows such as the Shrek 4-D Adventure and Waterworld, and street performances including Rhythm Truck and Madagascar Boogie, will not make a return during this phase of reopening. Some experiences, including ferris wheel ride Magic Potion Spin, will also be unavailable (full list below).

What’s not available:
Street entertainment: Hollywood Dreams Parade, Rhythm Truck, Turntables, The Dance for the Magic Beans, Madagascar Boogie
Shows: Lake Hollywood Spectacular, Elmo’s TV Time, Lights, Camera, Action!, WaterWorld, Shrek 4-D Adventure, Donkey Live
Experiences: Magic Potion Spin, Amber Rock Climb

#4: What’s the deal with safe management on the rides?
All rides will have alternate row seating, with each family or group occupying the same row. Every ride will also be wiped down after every use. Similarly, 3D glasses will be disinfected after every use.

During peak periods, queue tickets with a return time will be issued to reduce the time visitors spend waiting in line for rides. Of course, if you’re queuing for a ride, the standard one-metre spacing is required between you and other visitors.

Queueing for a ride? Keep 1m apart from other guests.

#5: Yes, F&B outlets in USS will be open
But rather than standard menus, diners will have to view menus by scanning QR codes and pay via contactless payments. Tables are also spaced at least one metre apart, and alternate seating will be marked out.

#6: Season and Annual Pass holders will have their memberships extended
USS saw long queues just before the circuit breaker when it offered a free season pass with ticket purchases. Fret not, annual and season pass holders, USS will be extending memberships equivalent to the duration of time that the park was closed. However, sale and renewal of annual and season passes are still suspended until further notice.
