Oh, the joys of being a tourist, of unabashedly slinging your camera around your neck, sunhat and sunglasses in full glory, with nothing to do but experience all that a new city has to offer. But what if that city was right under your nose?

That's the idea behind Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel's “Live like a Local” campaign, which takes real tourists — and Singaporeans on staycay who want to rediscover local experiences (that's you!) — on a guided walking tour around Tiong Bahru (which is a short bus ride away from the hotel) to hunt down the most authentic local bites and seek out locations both traditional (a temple dedicated to the Monkey God, anyone?) and hipster (IG-worthy wall murals!).

The tour is free (they even give you five bucks for breakfast) but the staycation is not lah. And the funny thing is, even if you frequent Tiong Bahru, you may not have been to some of these places. Read on!
