4 New Rides At This Year’s Prudential Marina Bay Carnival. Here’s Your First Look
What to expect at Singapore’s biggest funfair.
If you couldn’t get enough of the rides at the inaugural Prudential Marina Bay Carnival — ie. where we hung out with Nathan Hartono for a cover shoot, then interviewed him on a stomach-churning ride — you’ll be happy to know that Singapore’s largest funfair is baaaack. The sophomore edition returns to the Bayfront Event Space from Dec 22 to Mar 24, 2019, and will feature over 40 rides and games, including a few new ones.
So what’s new this year?
We’re told that there'll be about four new rides this year, including the Wave Swinger, which may look something like this. On this brand-new ride, which is the centrepiece of this year's carnivnal, you’re swung around from single or double seats suspended from the roof. Look closely and you may just spot murals of Gardens by the Bay and Marina Bay Sands too.
Fast track passes will be available.
Admission to the carnival remains free, but you’ll have to pay for rides. But of course, it does get packed, even if the carnival occupies a sprawling 23,000 sqm of space (equivalent to about four football fields). And if you’re on a date or have fidgety children in tow, waiting is the last thing you’d want to do. Fast track passes are available for purchase this year, so you can jump the line at selected rides. So heave a sigh of relief, all you impatient ones.
Crowd favourites will make a return.
If you missed out on swinging from a sweaty-palm-inducing height of 35m on the Star Flyer, you’ll get your chance this time.

Daredevils, take note: The most thrilling ride from last year, the Mach 5, will also be back.
Ship happens
We screamed ourselves hoarse on the swinging ship that hurls you to an almost 90-degree angle. Will we emerge braver the second time around? Watch this space.
