Go partying or shoot some zombies.

All treats, no tricks.

#1: Horror Haunt: School of Horrors

A school girl is found brutally dismembered after a night walk gone wrong. But the mystery behind her death remains unsolved. It's up to you to crack the case when you take part in Cathay Mall's Horror Haunt: School of Horrors. The first 75 people per day who successfully brave through sinister school-themed rooms and solve the mystery will each win a Cathay Cineplexes movie voucher. To enter, present a minimum $5 same-day receipt from The Cathay or Cineleisure or a ticket stub from Cathay Cineplexes per pax, or pay $10 per pax to play.

Oct 19 to 22, 6pm to 10pm at The Cathay, External Atrium, Level 1; Oct 26 to 29, 6pm to 10 pm at Cathay Cineleisure Orchard, Basement 1. For more info, go to http://thecathay.com.sg/event/horrorhaunt or http://cineleisure.com.sg/event/horrorhaunt.

#2: Brick-or-Treat

Legoland Malaysia Resort's annual Halloween family event returns this year at the park. Kids and kidults alike can learn some dancing moves from the spooky, kooky Halloween-themed Lego characters at the Halloween Power Dance Tutorial and the Ghost-Busters Dance. There's also the Halloween Building Activity where families can build the ultimate spooky Lego to win the coveted limited-edition Halloween Duplo Brick. Of course, no Halloween shindig is complete without a costume contest. Dress your kiddos to be decked out in full Halloween costumes and they enter the park for free.

Oct 6 to 29, 10am to 6pm (hours extended to 8pm on Oct 13, 14, 20 and 21), 7, Jalan Legoland, Medini, 79250 Nusajaya, Johor, Malaysia. For more info, go to https://www.legoland.com.my/planning-your-visit/special-events/halloween-brick-or-treat.

#3: The Times Zombie VR Competition

Nothing beats shooting the brains out of zombies at Halloween. We tried it for ourselves, and boy, was it scary. Not the walking dead — the screams of the players, we mean. Expect a lot of screaming and arms flailing. The VR experience is so immersive that once you’ve got the headset and headphones on, you're truly in your own world. It's really like an arcade game, except it's as real as you can get to a zombie apocalypse.

Spend a minimum of $20 in a single receipt at either Bugis junction or Bugis+ to participate. From Oct 13 to 26. Competition final on Oct 29. For more info, go to https://www.capitaland.com/sg/malls/bugisjunction/en/events/stay-alive-this-halloween.html
