We’re used to admiring Instagrammable installations around Singapore, but how often do you get to be part of creating it? Now here’s your chance to do so, with Sentosa’s ginormous National Day installation that’s taking shape as we speak.

As part of this year’s National Day celebrations, the folks at Sentosa want members of the public to send birthday wishes or messages for the country by Aug 8. These will form a display made up of 10,000 red and white flags, each one with a heartfelt message. This eye-catching installation will span 4,500sqm (or two-thirds the size of a football pitch) on Siloso Beach. Named the Flag of Unity, the giant installation will form the words ‘Together, A Stronger Singapore’, which happens to be this year’s National Day Parade theme. Green warriors will be pleased to know that the flags are recyclable, and will be upcycled into usable items, such as bags, after the event.

All entries are to be made online (see below for URL) by Aug 8. Every 20th submission will also see the person penning the message receiving a pair of wireless earbuds (worth $20).
