What To Watch This Week: Nov 17-23, 2025
From fried mee to friendly fire (on the netball court, anyway), the Rainbow Taxi crew, and a few jabs from Don Lee — this week’s watchlist packs more flavour than your average buffet.
This week's must-stream shows...
Makan on Wheels 2 (mewatch & Channel 8, Nov 19, 8pm)
The gang heads off to Sungai Lembeng (that’s in Pahang) for some fried Hokkien mee. Wonder how much bad cholesterol is in that? Hey fellas, when was the last time you had a physical? Just saying.
Under the Net (mewatch & Channel 8, Nov 20, 9pm)
Star Search finalists Gladys Bay and Gladys Ng and Valnice Yek (Sunny Side Up) star in this 20-part drama as BFFs and netball players whose friendship is put to test when they end up as rivals on the court. Paige Chua, Gavin Teo, and Kym Ng co-star. Say, what happened to Star Search champ Tiffany Ho? Asking for a friend.
The Conjuring: Last Rites (HBO Max, Nov 21)
Isn’t the ninth and supposedly final entry of the Conjuring series a remake of the first one? Pretty much. Except this time, it takes its sweet time getting to the good stuff — because the Ed and Lorrain Warren (Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga) are busy prepping their daughter’s wedding. The scares of a mixed bag, shamelessly cribbing from its own backyard (basements! music boxes! Annabelle!) and borrowing from Evil Dead Rise and Oculus (the entire mirror bit). Knowing what we know about the real-life Warrens, the ending lands somewhere between cringey and phony. Still, what do I know? The movie made a killing at the box-office. And, of course, evil never rests — a HBO Max series is already in the works.

Taxi Driver 3 (Viu, Nov 21)
The vigilantes of Rainbow Taxi Company are back, with Lee Je-hoon once again serving as the muscle — dishing out justice for the common folk. Hey, Mediacorp, how about a Singapore version? And if you do, you have to cast Peter Yu. Can you see it?

Train Dreams (Netflix, Nov 21)
A buzzy awards-season contender, this adaptation of Denis Johnson’s beloved novella stars Joel Edgerton as a logger who joins the workforce expanding America’s railroad network in early 20th century. Directed by Oscar nominee Clint Bentley (Sing Sing), it also features Felicity Jones, Kerry Condon, and William H Macy.

The Family Plan 2 (Apple TV, Nov 21)
Here’s a sequel no one asked for — but the algorithm clearly disagreed. Mark Wahlberg, aka the King of Second-Screen Action Flicks, returns as the family guy and former spy once again forced to confront ghosts from his past — this time in the form of Kit Harington. Between dodging bullets, he and his brood even manage to squeeze in some sightseeing time across Europe.
