What To Watch This Week: Apr 6-12, 2026

Timeless Memories (mewatch, Apr 6; Channel 8, Apr 8, 9pm)

Zhu Houren stars as a paper-offering shopkeeper who comes into possession of a mystical mirror that transforms the lives of ageing shop owners in the neighbourhood — a roadside barber, a second-hand bookseller  and a kacang puteh seller. The 13-part supernatural drama also features Tyler Ten, Richard Low, Yvonne Lim, Denise Camillia Tan, Muthusamy Lingam, David Matthew, Sheryl Ang, Wang Yu Qing, and Jeffrey Xu.

Durrani – Perjuangan Lion Mum (Netflix, mewatch from Apr 6, Suria from Apr 7)

Nurul Aini gets her own Lion Mums spin-off, with her character Durrani, trading in her power-hungry career-woman persona for life as a family-law advocate. But balancing work and home proves anything but easy, as the demands of her loved ones force her and her husband (Fir Rahman) into a series of tough decisions. This is one of three Mediacorp shows to land Netflix premieres ahead of their free-to-air launches. The others are The Leftovers (due Nov 2026), a dystopian crime-thriller starring Li Nanxing, Jesseca Liu, and Zhang Zetong, and Chili Crab Flower Club (due Feb 2027), a mystery-thriller featuring He Ying Ying, Jesseca Liu, and Juin Teh. 

Star Wars: Maul — Shadow Lord (Disney+, Apr 6)

Darth Maul returns! Set after the events of The Clone Wars, the animated series follows the ex-Sith Lord-turned-crime boss (again voiced by Sam Witwer) as he tries to rebuild his syndicate on a planet untouched by the Empire. But a jaded Jedi Padawan and a pair of Imperial Inquisitors stand in his way. The series launches with a double-episode premiere, with two instalments dropping each week ahead of the finale on Star Wars Day (May 4).

The Testaments (Disney+, Apr 8)

More dystopian fun! One Battle After Another breakout Chase Infiniti stars in this The Handmaid’s Tale sequel (available on HBO Max, if you need a primer…or you can just watch the news), set 15 years after the events in the original series. This 10-part drama follows the coming-of-age journeys of two teens — Agnes (Infiniti) and Daisy (Lucy Halliday), a newcomer from beyond Gilead’s borders.   

Perfect Crown (Disney+, Apr 10)

This 12-part K-drama imagines present-day South Korea as a constitutional monarch and follows the Grand Prince (Lovely Runner’s Byeon Woo-seok) who enters into a contract marriage with chaebol heiress (When Life Gives You Tangerines’ IU aka Lee Ji-eun). What begins as a transactional  arrangement soon takes a familiar turn —  they fall madly in love. Because of course they do. New episodes drop on Friday and Saturday.

Outcome (Apple TV, Apr 10)

Jonah Hill directs and co-writes this “cautionary comedy” starring Keanu Reeves as Hollywood A-lister Reef Hawk, who returns from a hiatus, only to be extorted over incriminating footage from his past. Hill plays his agent, who assembles a team of spin doctors (Laverne Cox, Roy Wood Jr, and comedian  Atsuko Okatsuka) to manage the fallout. Cameron Diaz and Matt Bomer co-star as his BFF, while Martin Scorese pops up as Reef’s former manager.

Thrash (Netflix, Apr 10)

The latest from Norwegian fright-meister Tommy Wirkola (Violent Night, Dead Snow) follows a group of survivors — including Bridgerton’s Phoebe Dynevor and Djimon Hounsou — stranded in a flooded town hit by a Category 5 hurricane … and stalked by sharks. Sounds familiar? Think the 2012 Aussie pic Bait (yes, the one with Qi Yuwu and Adrian Pang), Same premise, different accents.
