Trailer Watch: Steve Carell’s Back With More Mischief In Minions: The Rise Of Gru
It’s a sequel to ‘Minions’ and a prequel to ‘Despicable Me’.
Not only is Minions: The Rise of Gru a sequel to 2015’s Minions but also a prequel to Despicable Me, which explores the early days of supervillain Gru (voiced by Steve Carell).
In the just-dropped trailer, we see a young Gru trying to join his favourite supervillain supergroup Vicious 6. When he fails to impress the cabal, he steals something valuable from them… with a little help from his gibberish-spouting henchmen, the Minions.
The Minions — led by Kevin, Stuart, Bob, and Otto, a new member with braces — also assist Gru to build their first lair, experiment with their first weapons and pull off their first missions.
The vocal cast also includes Taraji P Henson, Michelle Yeoh, Lucy Lawless, RZA, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Dolph Lundgren, Danny Trejo, and Russell Brand.

Minions: The Rise of Gru opens in cinemas June 11.
