The upcoming Mulan isn’t the only Chinese folklore being brought to life by Hollywood — there’s also Over the Moon, Netflix’s animated movie based on the mythical moon goddess Chang’e.

After the well-received Klaus and The Willoughbys, Netflix is banking on Over the Moon to be its next animated hit. The movie, which just dropped a trailer, is produced by the Chinese-owned Pearl Studio, the same guys behind Abominable, is very Disney-seque — it has a dead mother, musical numbers and cute animals.

Not surprisingly, the director, Glen Keane, is a veteran Disney animator (Tarzan, Beauty and the Beast, Pocahontas) and had won an Oscar for the Kobe Bryant-narrated Dear Basketball.

Here’s the official synopsis:

Fuelled with determination and a passion for science, a bright young girl builds a rocket ship to the moon to prove the existence of a legendary Moon Goddess. There she ends up on an unexpected quest, and discovers a whimsical land of fantastical creatures. Directed by animation legend Glen Keane, and produced by Gennie Rim and Peilin Chou, Over the Moon is an exhilarating musical adventure about moving forward, embracing the unexpected, and the power of imagination.

The movie, slated to premiere later this year, features the voices of Cathy Ang, Philippa Soo, Ken Jeong, John Cho, Ruthe Ann Miles, Sandra Oh, Margaret Cho, Robert G Chiu, and Kimiko Glenn. The songs are by Christopher Curtis, Marjorie Duffield, and Helen Park.
