Look out! John Cena is going to strip down to his white underwear again!

HBO Go has just dropped the full trailer of Peacemaker, the eight-part series spin-off Suicide Squad, premiering same time as the US on Jan 13.

Cena once again plays the titular vigilante aka Christopher Smith, “a compellingly vainglorious man who believes in peace at any cost, no matter how many people he has to kill to get it.”

The series picks up after the events of The Suicide Squad, in which Peacemaker was nearly killed after betraying his team for what he believed to be the greater good. (His miraculous resurrection is hinted in the post-end credits stinger of The Suicide Squad.)

He’s now part of another task force that includes Orange is the New Black’s Daniella Brooks, Unreal’s Freddie Stroma and The Underground Railway’s Chukwudi Iwuiji. Steve Agee and Jennifer Holland are also reprising their roles from The Suicide Squad, as aides to Suicide Squad boss Amanda Waller, stuck with running this new motley crew of unlikely assassins. Robert Patrick also stars as Peacemaker’s estranged father.

James Gunn, the director of The Suicide Squad, serves as the showrunner and is also at the helm of five of the eight episodes.

The trailer also reveals that Peacemaker might be suffering from a spiritual crisis. One character says, “That guy is a clown.” Another adds, “But there’s something about him…that’s sad.” But between moments of introspection, expect a lot of firepower and buffoonery.
