Pixar, fresh from winning two Oscars for Soul early this week, has released the trailer for its next crowd-pleaser, Luca.
The animation giant's 24th feature follows the eponymous teenager (voiced by Room’s Jacob Tremblay) as he spends one unforgettable summer in the Italian coastal town of Portorosso. Here’s the thing, Luca is not human — he’s a sea monster, the friendly kind.
Directed by Enrico Casarosa (the Oscar-nominated animated short La Luna), Luca also stars the voices of Maya Rudolph (Bridesmaids), Jim Gaffigan (Bob’s Burgers) and Giacomo Gianniotti (Grey’s Anatomy).
Luca was originally slated to be out in cinemas, but was pulled following a major schedule shake-up in March and will now premiere exclusively on Disney+ on Jun 18, without extra cost.
