Trailer Watch: Anya Taylor-Joy Wants To Party In Edgar Wright’s Psychological Horror, Last Night In Soho
Well, we think it is a horror movie even though it doesn’t look like one.
Edgar Wright’s new movie, Last Night in Soho, has dropped a trailer and it’s beautiful — and baffling.
Set in London, Last Night in Soho follows an aspiring fashion designer Eloise (Jojo Rabbit’s Thomasin McKenzie) who, for reasons not revealed, travels to the 1960s where she meets and then inhabits the body of a singer named Sandy (Anya Taylor-Joy).
There will be blood: Thomasin McKenzie is in for a surprise. Director Edgar Wright cast her after seeing her in 'Leave No Trace'. He said, "She's great in [Last Night in Soho']. She's so young and fragile that the film is going to be twice as scary".
“It’s in the psychological horror vein,” Wright told Empire. “It gets increasingly tense as it goes along.” So does Eloise physically travel back in time? Or does everything unfold in her mind? Hmmm…
Whatever it is, the teaser — soundtracked by Petula Clark’s ‘Downtown’ — says little else but highlight the dazzling visuals by the South Korean cinematographer Chung Chung-Hoon (Oldboy, The Handmaiden).
