Trailer Watch: Ansel Elgort Gets In Trouble With The Yakuza In Michael Mann’s Crime Series Tokyo Vice
Get ready to depart for Tokyo circa 1990s on Apr 7.
“I want to know the real Tokyo… what’s beneath the surface.”
So says Ansel Elgort’s American reporter Jake Adelstein pleading to someone off-screen to guide him down the rabbit hole that’s the Japanese underworld. Be careful what you wish for, Jake: judging from the trailer, he’s going to get more than what he bargained for.
Until Japan reopens its borders to tourists (Atami, wait for me!), we’ll just have to make do with Tokyo Vice, the eight-part crime series produced by Michael Mann, and loosely based on Jake Adelstein’s coverage of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police’s operations.
The cast also includes Ken Watanabe, Rinko Kikuchi, Hideaki Ito and Shô Kasamatsu. Tokyo Vice will premiere with two episodes on HBO Go on the same day as the US on Apr 7, with the rest dropping on subsequent Thursday, leading up to the finale on Apr 28.
