History Mysteries
Did the British military build a tunnel connecting Sentosa to Labrador Park? Just how much do you know about Singapore’s railway legacy? These are a few of the local urban myths and obscure history tackled in this enlightening — and sometimes creepy — series as host Adrian Pang (nice boots, by the way) turns to experts to separate fact from spin.

Joanne Peh re-teams with the makers of Last Madame on this intriguing drama series where she plays an autistic accountant endowed with telepathic powers after undergoing radiotherapy for her cancer. (She’s an X-woman!) James Seah is the PI who exploits her gift to track down white-collar criminals.

Marma Medai
Supernatural series starring Ramesh Gandhi as a DJ radio who confronts a host of characters who have crossed over from the titular late-night show. Guests include Jaynesh Isuran (above) and Manjari, winners of the Most Popular Male and Female personalities at the recent Pradhana Vizha 2021. In Tamil with English subtitles.

Heart Warmers
Docu-series about the good Samaritans in Singapore who devote their time, energy and money to serve the needy and vulnerable. “I can’t change the world,” says one volunteer. “Maybe I can help one person at a time.” And we all can play a part to help one another. In the first ep, learn more about the folks behind Mummy Yummy and Dignity Kitchen and their initiatives.

Thunder Force
Melissa McCarthy and Octavia Spencer play BFFs who become superheroes after they are imbued with incredible abilities in a lab accident. Together, they put on matching costumes to take on scum of the earth (just Chicago, actually). Jason Bateman and Bobby Cannavale co-star.

Supergirl, Season 6
More superhero action. Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) and friends take on a challenge that brings Alex (Chyler Leigh) to her breaking point. Meanwhile, the rivalry between Lex Luthor (Jon Cryer) and sister Lena (Katie McGrath) intensifies. Same day as the US telecast.

Saturday Night Live, Season 46

Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
We still don’t understand why the Marvel Cinematic Universe's TV series spin-off — co-created by Joss Whedon — managed to last seven seasons. It should’ve stopped at three. Four, tops. Decide for yourself by binge-watching all 136 episodes of the show which re-introduced Ming-Na Wen to a generation as a badass hero.

27th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards
Catch the encore of this year’s Screen Actors Guild Awards where history was made when actors of colour swept the individual film categories: Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom’s Viola Davis (Best Female Actor) and the late Chadwick Boseman (Best Male Actor), Judas and the Black Messiah’s Daniel Kaluuya (Best Male Supporting Actor), and Minari’s Youn-Yuh-Jung (Best Female Supporting Actor). Elsewhere, Aaron Sorkin’s The Trial of the Chicago 7 took home Best Ensemble. In the TV category, The Crown, Schitt’s Creek, Ozark, and Queen’s Gambit were the notable winners.
