Marvel Studios has dropped the official trailer for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, its first Asian-led adventure, which offers a closer look at the turbulent relationship between the eponymous superhero (Simu Liu) and his father Wenwu aka The Mandarin (Tony Leung Chiu-Wai), the leader of the outlaw group Ten Rings.

The two-minute trailer shows how Shang-Chi rejecting his father’s offer to take his place as the big boss. “You’re just a criminal who murders people,” says Shang-Chi. To which the Mandarin coldly replies, “Be careful how you speak to me, boy.” And as with all father-son feuds, it ends in a brawl.

The footage also features Fala Chen, Michelle Yeoh, a lion, a dragon, a cage match involving a troll (no, wait, is that you, Abomination?), and more badass martial artistry (courtesy of Australian choreographer Bradley James Allan, formerly of the Jackie Chan Stunt Team). But still nothing on where the saga fits in the unpleasant business with Thanos.

Following the trailer launch, Liu took to Instagram to dedicate it to his late grandparents. “ye ye, nai nai, this is for you,” he wrote. “I’m thinking of you every day.”

Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings opens in Singapore cinemas on Sep 2.
