Mediacorp’s time-travelling fantasy series, A Quest to Heal, is up for an International Emmy Award in November.
The 32-ep series — starring Carrie Wong as a young woman in love with two men from two different periods, one (Qi Yuwu) in present-day Singapore, the other (Xu Bin), Ming Dynasty China — is nominated for Best Telenovela at the International Emmy Awards.
There are 44 nominees across 11 categories and spanning a record number of 24 countries, the Emmys body, International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, announced Thursday (Sept 23).
The contenders come from: Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, Colombia, Egypt, France, India, Israel, Japan, Lebanon, Mexico, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Thailand, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
Winners will be announced at an in-person Ceremony in New York City, on Nov 22, 2021 at a location to be announced shortly. Click here for the complete list of nominees.
Past Singaporean productions that had vied at the International Emmys, include Mediacorp’s Fam! (Best Comedy Series, 2019), Leon Cheo’s People Like Us (Best Short-Form Series, 2020) and Ler Jiyuan’s HBO Asia anthology Invisible Stories (Best Actress for Yeo Yann Yann, 2020).
Besides the Emmys, A Quest to Heal is also competing at next month’s New York Festivals TV & Film Awards, with Qi Yuwu in the running for Best Actor. The winners will be announced on Oct 12 in a ceremony in Las Vegas.
