MasterChef Singapore is back!

The casting call is now open for all home cooks who aspired to be the next — cue dramatic music — MasterChef Singapore.

The contest is open to Singaporeans and permanent residents who are currently not working as a professional chef or have never worked as one before.

For your audition, simply cook your favourite dish and take a picture of it, record a 30-second introductory video of yourself and complete the online form here. Closing date: Oct 13, 2021.

At press time, Mediacorp did not say whether the judges from Season 1 and 2 — Bjorn Shen, the chef and owner of Artichoke; Damian D'Silva, the executive chef of Folklore; and Audra Morrice, MasterChef Australia series 4 finalist — would return.

Season 2 of MasterChef Singapore— which was one of the top local English variety series on Channel 5 in 2021 so far ended in April with engineering student Derek Cheong, 25, beating private tutor Leon Lim, 32 in the final cook-off.

Besides the MasterChef Singapore trophy, Derek also won S$15,000 cash; a book publishing deal with Marshall Cavendish; S$3,000 worth of Nespresso products; kitchen appliances from Luzerna Chinaware, KitchenAid, Global Knives and Thermomix; S$7,000 cash from DBS Bank; internships with Chefs Damian and Bjorn; and a Fullerton Hotel staycation and spa package.

The 10-episode Season 3 will debut on meWATCH and Channel 5 during the second quarter of 2022. Meanwhile, you can stream Season 2 on meWATCH or watch it on Channel 5 every Sunday, 12pm, starting from Aug 29.
