Cooking Competition King of Culinary Returns In Multilingual Format; Winner Stands To Win Up To S$20,000 In Cash

Calling all home cooks: If you can’t be a MasterChef, then set your sights on becoming the next best thing — wait for it — the King of Culinary!

Mediacorp’s cooking competition show King of Culinary is back! Unlike the previous two seasons, which are in Mandarin, Season 3 is presented in a multilingual format, over two phases.

Spanning over 10 weeks, Phase 1 consists of three separate competitions —– Raja Kaiya Vecha (ராஜா கைய வச்சா), Raja Kulinari and 三把刀, conducted in Tamil, Malay and Mandarin, respectively, with contestants facing off three professional mentor-chefs and their mentees in four rounds of cook-off.

First, they pick a mentee to do battle against. A win gets them into the second round where they pit their skills against the first mentor-chef. If they win, they move to the next round and be awarded S$2,000 and the mentor’s chef’s knife. Repeat this for two more rounds they will secure a place in Phase 2, The Battle of the Kings, where they take on the other Kings of Culinary.

In Phase 2, the three Kings will vie for the ‘King of Kings’ title and a cash prize of up to S$16,000 in a series of challenges over the course of four weeks.

The professional mentor-chefs are: Raja Kaiya Vecha — Chefs Anand Kumar, Bala and Thanabalan; Raja Kulinari — Chefs Bob (Shahrizal Salleh), Iskander Latiff and Khaled Shrafodden; and 三把刀 — Chefs Eric Neo, Pung Lu Tin and Eric Teo.

Phase 1: Raja Kaiya Vecha (ராஜா கைய வச்சா) airs Aug 20 on meWATCH, Vasantham and Mediacorp Entertainment on YouTube, 9pm; Raja Kulinari airs Aug 23 on meWATCH, Suria and Mediacorp Entertainment on YouTube, 8.30pm; 三把刀 airs Aug 24 on meWATCH, Channel 8 and Mediacorp Entertainment on YouTube.

Phase 2: Battle of the Kings airs Sun, airs Nov 13 on meWATCH, Channel 5 and Mediacorp Entertainment on YouTube, 9.30pm.
