Jack Neo is making another army comedy — this time all-female spin-off of Ah Boys to Men.

Ah Girls Go Army, is set to go into production in November, Neo announced in a press conference Wednesday (Sept 29). The movie is slated for Feb 1, 2022, the first day of Chinese New Year.

The movie is set in the possible-near future, where females will have to serve National Service as there are not enough males in Singapore.

It will follow the country’s first batch of female recruits — made up of “a bunch of Gen Z teens with different backgrounds and education” — as they find themselves “pushed to their physical and emotional limits”.

Apple Chan will star as Lieutenant Zhang, who will whip the recruits into the shape. The original cast of Ah Boys to Men are expected to make cameos in the movie. The 25-day shoot is set to go into production in November.

Neo is also looking to cast fresh faces, aged 18-30, to play some of the female recruits in the movie, which will cost S$1.6-1.8 million. Here’s how you can audition online:

1. Simply act out a character of your own choosing that you think fits your personality.

2. Upload a 1-3 min video of your portraying the character on Instagram or Facebook.

3. Include the Hashtag #AhGirlsGoArmy

4. Tag Jteam & mm2 Singapore FB and Instagram

Entries are only open to all races and all persons based in Singapore. Submissions need to be uploaded by Oct 10 (Sun), 11.59pm.

The first Ah Boys to Men was released in 2012 and spawned three sequels, the last of which came out in 2017. The series collectively earned nearly S$26.8 million at the box-office.

During the press con, Neo said a fifth Ah Boys to Men movie is in the works.
