Trailer Watch: Harrison Ford, Phoebe Waller-Bridge Jump Out Of A Burning Plane In Indiana Jones And The Dial Of Destiny
Disney and Lucasfilm have dropped a new trailer for Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.
The new trailer made its debut on Friday (Apr 7) at the Star Wars Celebration in London, where attendants also caught a six-minute preview of the fifth Indian Jones movie. Director James Mangold and his actors, Mads Mikkelsen and Phoebe Waller-Bridge, showed on stage to greet fans while Harrison Ford appeared in a pre-recorded message.
The 1960s-set Dial of Destiny is the first Indiana Jones instalment not directed by Steven Spielberg, who helmed 1981’s Raiders of the Lost — still the Olympic gold standard for treasure-seeking movies — 1984’s Temple of Doom, 1989’s The Last Crusade and 2008’s Kingdom of Crystal Skull.
According to folks who caught the sneak peek, the footage features (per Hollywood Reporter) “six minutes of classic Indy footage showing tuk-tuk races, rolling boulders, Nazi references and Phoebe Waller-Bridge jumping out of a burning plane”.
In the trailer, we see a retiring-soon archaeologist Jones lured back into action by his goddaughter Helena (Waller-Bridge). Together, they must race against time to recover an ancient device before it reaches the hands of Nazi scientist Jurgen Voller (Mikkelsen). “Hitler made mistakes and with this, I will correct them all,” said Voller.
The movie also stars John Rhys-Davies, Antonio Banderas, Renee Wilson, Thomas Kretschmann, Toby Jones, and Boyd Holbrook.
Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny will make its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival on May 18. The festival will also pay a special tribute to Ford. The movie will be out in cinemas on June 29.
