'The Good Fight' Is 'The Good Wife' Spin-off We've Waiting For

The Good Fight will make us miss The Good Wife for all the right reasons.

Rather than merely riding on the coattails of the original series, this cracking spin-off proves to be more than just an opportunistic and soulless rehash by creators Robert and Michelle King. The series makes a seamless transition back into the treacherous waters of the law firm shark tank a year after the events of TGW’s finale.

The Good Wife herself, Alicia Florrick (Julianna Margulies), is long gone, but Diane Lockhart (Christine Baranski) is back (yay!). After losing her retirement savings in a Ponzi scheme, she finds herself working in an African-American-owned firm where TGW fan fave Lucca Quinn (Cush Jumbo) is her colleague.

Cue dramatic pause.

Now rub your hands in glee and watch all the juicy stories erupt from this thorny fish-out-of-water scenario, and then some. In short, this witty, sophisticated and confident sequel more than makes up for the underwhelming TGW finale. Yes, Kings, we remember. But now you’re forgiven.
