First Look: Daniel Craig Is Back To Solve Another Star-Studded Murder Case In Knives Out 2
The sequel to the 2019 whodunnit hit is officially called Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery.

The name is Blanc, Benoit Blanc.
Now that Daniel Craig is done with James Bond, he’s moved on to his next franchise: Knives Out where he plays the brilliant Southern sleuth, Benoit Blanc.
Netflix announced on Monday (Aug 22) that Glass Union: A Knives Out Mystery, the sequel to the 2019 whodunit hit, will be out on the streaming service on Dec 23. Before that, it’ll make its world premiere at next month’s Toronto International Film Festival (Sept 8-18). Netflix has also dropped the first-look image for the movie.
According to the official press release, Glass Onion, again directed by Rian Johnson, sees Blanc travelling to Greece to investigate another murder mystery. But this we do know: it’s star-studded. Edward Norton! Janelle Monae! Leslie Odom Jr! Kathryn Hahn! Jessica Henwick! Madelyn Cline! Kate Hudson! Ethan Hawke! And Dave Bautista. (Sorry, we’re out of exclamation marks.)
In an interview with Tudum, Netflix's in-house publication, Johnson explained how he arrived at the title. “I’m always fishing for something fun that Blanc can grab onto as an overwrought metaphor that he can beat to death,” he said.
“This is all in plain sight from the very start. So, the idea of glass came to me, something that's clear. I’ll be very honest. I literally got out my iPhone and searched my music library with the word ‘glass.’ There’s got to be some good glass songs. I was like, ‘Oh, is it a glass fortress? Is it a glass castle? Is it a glass man?’ The first thing that came up, because I’m a huge Beatles fan, is ‘Glass Onion’.”
The original Knives Out made US$311 million (S$434 mil) worldwide on a reported US$40 million budget. It was also nominated for an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay.
Netflix made headlines when it coughed up US$469 million for the rights to the two sequels. That’s right. After Glass Union, Craig will be back in another Beonit Blac adventure, which has yet to be greenlit.
But that’s another story for another time.
