It’s a remake of a 2004 Japanese tearjerker — different language, same heartache.

Son Ye-Jin, So Ji-Sub in Be With You

Be With You (PG)

Starring So Ji-Sub, Son Ye-Jin

Directed by Lee Jang-Hoon

A dead woman (Son Ye-Jin) returns from the grave to reunite with her husband (So Ji-Sub) and tween son (Kim Ji-hwan). But she has no recollections of her past. So leave it to father and junior to jog her memories, but they have only a few weeks to do so before she’s gone for good.

This back-from-the-dead romance, a remake of a 2004 Japanese drama, is simple and moving, made more so by a stirring third act disclosure. If anything, the ‘extra info’ enriches the love story. Even if you’ve seen the original, you’ll still find it hard to contain the sniffles. In Korean with English and Chinese subtitles. (***1/2)
