Trailer Watch: Song Joong-Ki’s Space Sweepers Sets Feb 5 Release On Netflix

It's the first Korean sci-fi flick set in outer space.

Buckle up! Netflix has set a Feb 5 date to launch Space Sweepers, the eagerly-awaited sci-fi epic starring Song Joong-Ki and Kim Rae-Ki. It has also unveiled the first teaser.

The movie, set in 2092, centres around the crew of Victory, a scavenger ship led by skipper Tae-Ho (Song Joong-Ki, an ex-space pirate Captain Jang (Kim Rae-Ki), engineer Tiger Park (Jin Sun-Kyu), and a military droid named Bubs (voiced by Yoo Hai-Jin). Things go sideways when they pick up a cargo — a humanlike robot in the shape of a seven-year-old girl — that’s wanted by the authorities.

Judging from the teaser footage, the Jo Sung-Hee-directed spectacular reminds us a lot of Firefly, Guardians of the Galaxy and Luc Besson’s Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets. Get ready for a chaotically fun excursion in space.
