Bill and Ted are back!
After two adventures under their belt — 1989’s Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure and 1991’s Bill & Ted’s Bogus Adventure — the time-travelling duo are back in Bill & Ted Face the Music.
In the just-released teaser trailer, Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter reprise their roles as Ted ‘Theodore’ Logan and Bill S Preston Esquire, now middle-aged, but still BFFs, still adorkable, and still speaking slanglish.
This time, someone in the future tells them that the universe faces imminent destruction and the only way to stop it is a song written by Bill and Ted. The problem is, Bill and Ted haven’t written that tune… yet.
With a little help from their daughters (Samara Weaving and Bridgette Lundy-Paige) and some familiar faces (hello, Death, played by Bill Sadler again), they will travel to the future and steal the song… from themselves. “How is it stealing? We’re stealing from ourselves, dude,” says Bill.
The third Bill & Ted movie — directed by Dean Prisot (Galaxy Quest) — has been in the works since 2010 but it didn’t gain traction until Steven Soderbergh (yes, that Steven Soderbergh) came on board as producer.
The threequel is opening in the US on Aug 21; at time of writing, it has yet to find a Singapore distributor.
